In this special collection, researchers from social and political psychology provide new evidence on the psychological impact of terrorism on the population at large and our focus is on the January 2015 attack on Charlie Hebdo and the Hyper Casher in Paris, France. All the papers in this special issue suggest that cultural norms and values, that together form a specific cultural worldview, are decisive weapon that were used by the French population to allow group solidarity in the face of adversity. Prejudice and religious intolerance, whatever forms they may take, did not prove effective in standing up against terror in Paris in January 2015.
